For as long as she can remember, Bernie has wanted to work in the field of veterinary medicine in order to make a difference in the lives of animals. She finds working with animals to be one of the most rewarding types of work and loves every minute of it.
A Newmarket native, Bernie got her start in the veterinary field during a high school co-op opportunity at an animal hospital. She excelled working at the clinic, with the animals and got a handful of experience in all aspects of the veterinary field—she even had the opportunity to scrub in and assist the head veterinarian on numerous surgical procedures. Bernie has future plans of applying to the University of Guelph for their DVM program and has achieved a certificate in Advanced Canine Nutrition presented by Dogs Naturally Magazine and is certified in level 1reiki.
One of Bernie’s favorite parts of her job is seeing firsthand the difference she’s able to make in the animals and owners lives while working at the clinic, assisting the veterinary team and performing various holistic modalities.
In her time away from the clinic, Bernie enjoys volunteering at Dog Tales rescue and horse sanctuary, horseback riding, going out with friends, drawing/painting, listening to music and spending time with her dog Laycee and her three cat’s Pepsi, Wednesday and Karma.
