Dr. Sasan Haghighat (Hyatt), is the owner of Holistic Vet clinic in Newmarket, Ontario. After graduating from vet school and additional training in Germany he passed his licensing exams in Ontario in 2003. He worked at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Newmarket and the Veterinary Emergency Clinic (VEC) in Toronto. Having a strong family background in natural healing methods, he soon developed a new passion: the belief that healing starts from inside. The more he practised veterinary medicine, the less medication he prescribed. His mantra soon became: Let Food be your Medicine and Medicine be your Food.
Dr. Sasan has also worked with the Earth Rangers and in a private practice in the York Region. In the spring of 2006 he met Dr. Autumn Drouin, a leading naturopathic doctor and veterinarian, and they immediately became very good friends and started working closely together. This led him to attend the world-renowned Chi Institute in Florida where he studied veterinary acupuncture and food therapy (including herbs) based on traditional Chinese medicine. He has certifications in both disciplines and also over 350 hours of hands-on training in veterinary chiropractic, canine rehabilitation, and matrix repatterning.
He is also certified in postural rehabilitation and holds a post-graduate diploma in Bio-Regulatory Medicine through BioMedic in the United Kingdom.
He and Dr. Drouin successfully combined their treatment modalities, including naturopathic medicine, homotoxicology, biological medicine, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and conventional medicine.
His training both as a seasoned emergency veterinarian and a holistic veterinarian gives him a deep understanding of health, and has given him the ability to have a full spectrum approach when treating his patients.
He believes, as long as there is no immediate medical risk, that all the healing should come from inside and that his role is to support the body by using natural means. He sees over and over that patients with seemingly hopeless medical conditions can benefit tremendously from natural medicine.
The art and science of medicine is a lifelong study to which Dr. Sasan is dedicated. He continues to regularly attend seminars, courses, and conferences on various medical and veterinary topics.
In his free time, Sasan enjoys cooking, travelling, taking his dog, Tessa, for long hikes, and preparing home-made food for Tessa and his two cats, Dude and Teddy. Life is good…
